UNGATED app concept preview

UNGATED

UNGATED is a mobile application currently under development, focused on allowing users to download videos from any platform at the highest available quality, without ads, restrictions, or unsafe third-party websites.

Purpose

This project starts from a real personal problem. Existing video download websites are slow, overloaded with ads, and often unsafe. Even basic downloads require unnecessary steps and long wait times.

UNGATED is being designed as a direct alternative tool. The goal is to keep the entire process fast and local to the device, without relying on sketchy web services.

Approach

The app is being planned as a native, device-first solution. Video extraction and downloads are intended to run locally on the device, avoiding unnecessary backends or external servers.

UX is treated as a core requirement, not a layer on top. The flow is intentionally minimal. Paste a link, choose quality if needed, and download without friction or hidden steps.

Learning

This project is actively shaping my thinking around utility-first products. When the problem is simple, the interface must be even simpler. Anything extra becomes friction.

It is also reinforcing the importance of perceived performance. Speed, clarity, and trust matter more than visual effects in functional applications.
